Owning Land In Bali
Most land plots in Bali are offered with freehold (Hak Milik) ownership titles. At the moment, Freehold (Hak Milik) can only be held by Indonesian citizens; foreigners are not permitted of buying land in Bali with this title of domestic property. Foreigners may acquire other forms of entitlements over land such a leasehold rights (Hak Sewa) or the right to use the land (Hak Pakai) for a period of predetermined number of years. Other option that allow to own property in Bali is setting up a Foreign Investment Company (PMA). Leasing Land In Bali
Land leasing (Hak Sewa) or the right to use the land (Hak Pakai) for a period of 20-30 years is a very popular and affordable method of acquiring land in Bali for foreigners. It is the only way of safely buying land in Bali under your own name. Rules and regulations allow foreigners to lease land in their own name without needing a local nominee. In some less popular areas a leasehold land can be acquired for around US 9,000-$13,000 for 100 square meters of land. Leasehold period 25 years.
In more popular areas like Canggu, Seseh and Bukit your can expect to pay from US$15,000 to US$20,000 per hundred square meters. Leasehold period 25 years.
The closed you get to the beach, the prices increase drastically up to US$25,000-35,000 per hundred square meters for a 25 yer leasehold period.
Note that these are leasehold land prices and obviously a freehold property should cost a lot more.
